Not Afraid to Stand Alone.

Genocide is on full display, and billions are watching, and nothing. Nothing is happening. The fate of humans, families, kids, and millions is now a matter of power negotiations or a debate in winning an election. The mind-boggling question is: how is this happening while billions of people watch? how do they justify their choices (elect the same war criminals, support companies that financially benefit, and much more)? How did the few control the billions?

The answer is that we, as individuals, always want to fit in. It is our human nature. We want to belong. Yes, how much we want to fit in varies from one person to another, but in the end, we are afraid to stand alone. We are afraid of being different.

The problem is that things will only improve when we are willing to be different. To stand for something. To be willing to be the difference maker. Not to be afraid to stand alone. To be a blessed stranger as the Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “Islam began as something strange and it will return to being strange, so blessed are the strangers.”

This is true on a personal level, professional development level, religious level, or even for companies. Check out Apple’s famous advertisement “Think Different” and read its history of how it changed the company’s course to become the biggest company in the world. Just by accepting and willing to be “different”, to be a “stranger” to the norm.

The question now is: Are you willing to be a stranger? If so, decide what you stand for, and next time you feel the urge to “fit in,” remember that fitting in is what made the few corrupt control the thousands, millions, and billions who want to “fit in.”
